November 9th 2025 - Rats Canada Trailing & Locating workshop
With Judge Lauren Taylor, this workshop will introduce you to the game of Trailing & Locating for Rats! Canada
No experience necessary for this workshop. It is open to any dog above 6mths old. A non restrictive harness with a back clip is recommended.

Trailing and Locating reproduces the scent tracking and location of quarry in a natural environment. The dog will be judged on its ability to track a set scent trail in an outdoor setting. The dog must track, locate and mark the presence of the quarry.
A scent trail is laid using rat litter that has been steeped to create liquid. The dog must follow the scent trail closely and not veer off the laid trail. Depending on the level, the track will have a set number of turns, and may have sharp turns, dead ends, and used litter “nests”. The dog must make it to the end of the track and find and “mark” the rat. The judge indicates when the dog has marked the rat for a sufficient time.
When: November 9th 2025 from 9:30am-11:30am
